Mike Hartz and Chris Page both started their fitness journey a week before Thanksgiving of last year, which as we all can appreciate, is an incredibly tough time to moderate your “unhealthy food” intake with two awesome food related holidays right around the corner!  Both Mike and Chris were looking for general health and fitness when they joined – and they have increased their work capacity ten fold.  Chris mentioned to me that he enjoys not being out of breath after climbing a set of stairs; and from his starting point, I will call that a success seven days out of the week!   If you haven’t enjoyed a class with them yet, be on the lookout.  You can tell from their banter that they are very good friends.

I couldn’t be any more proud of these two gentlemen for how hard they work in the gym and how aggressively they both tackled their mobility when they were in Elements.  Often they would tell me about how doing their “homework” (what a wonderful term) with the lacrosse ball would help their old aches and pains.  Have I mentioned how much they have cleaned their diets up?  Stay on it, fellas, and the results will keep pouring in!

They had both finished Elements and trained about a month in regular class when I asked them these questions.  Without further ado:

Mike Hartz

What were you looking to find in a non-traditional gym?

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I didn’t want to go back to waiting on machines and holding myself to my own workouts, seems harder to push yourself that way.

What is your favorite thing about GrowStrong?

I like the personal attention you get and the fact that everyone in the gym is performing the same exercises, kind of a team environment. I like that you track improvement.

Which are your favorite and least favorite movements?

Squats and cleans are my favorite. Sit ups and running are my least.

If you could go back in time and give advice to yourself on your first day, what would it be?

Do what you actually can and not what you think you can. Leave pride in the locker.

Chris Page

What were you looking to find in a non-traditional gym?

I was looking for a place I could talk with  someone about issues I was having with fitness.  And diet help.

What is your favorite thing about GrowStrong?

My favorite thing about GrowStrong is that it’s a great environment. It’s a great extension of a family. You cheer others on and they do the same for you.

Which are your favorite and least favorite movements?

My favorite movement would have to be Deadlifts or wall ball situps.  Least favorite movement… hmmm I would say running, never been big on that.

If you could go back in time and give advice to yourself on your first day, what would it be?

Follow Seth’s advice. Use the foam roller And stretch. And it will get worse before it gets better but your worth all the effort.

I couldn’t be any more proud of Mike and Chris for taking their health and fitness into their own hands.  Hard work pays off, and these men are living proof.
