At GrowStrong, we try not to have favorites. It’s hard when you have an athlete like Josh Lancaster – someone we get to see making an incredible transformation, always working hard, always being optimistic, and always being realistic.
When Josh joined the gym we had a discussion on how imperative and essential it was for him to lose weight and improve his health. He has taken our conversation to heart, and has realized that he holds his future in his own hands. His diet is on point, his exercise is on point, and his results are on point. As of writing this post, Josh has lost 110 pounds and is steady dropping about two a week.
We opened GrowStrong wanting to make a change in people’s lives, and with Josh we directly see that change. The effect that Josh’s change has had not only on his life, but on the lives of everyone around him can not be understated; it has created a parallel beneficial effect throughout our community – one that we are profusely proud of. GrowStrong is a community where when one succeeds, all succeed.
*Note that Josh eats a mostly paleo (quality oriented) ketogenic (high fat and protein) diet. For more information about this, come speak with us in person.
What were you looking to find in a non-traditional gym?
I was looking for a gym that was free from machines. A gym that offered strong ownership/coaching and solid programming with plenty of opportunities to move a barbell.
What is your favorite thing about GrowStrong?
Coaching. Seth and Brett are incredible. It’s obvious that that they truly care about the lives and wellness of their members. I’ve learned so much from them about movement patterns, nutrition, and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle. It wouldn’t be the same without them.
Which are your favorite and least favorite movements?
My favorite movement is the snatch and my least favorite movement is without a doubt the thruster.
If you could go back in time and give advice to yourself on your first day, what would it be?
Be patient and listen to your body. It takes time to transform a lifetime of poor diet and lack of exercise. Don’t overdo it too soon. At the end of the day, you still have to function in society.
